A Year of Spiritual Growth at Sacred Ground
As 2025 draws to a close, we at Sacred Ground continue to be grateful for and blessed by your presence in our community. The past twelve months have included meaningful events and beautiful opportunities for spiritual growth and transformation. Join us as we reflect back on 2025 and look forward to 2026.
Groundings
Sacred Ground continued to host the Groundings lecture series from September through May, in collaboration with the Loyola Spirituality Center and the Ignatian Spirituality Center. This monthly series now includes a remote option, allowing people to join via Zoom. In the 2024–2025 season, Groundings reached more than 300 attendees.
Spiritual seekers heard from speakers like Matt Linn, Scott McRae, Rev. Dr. Janet Johnson, and Rev. Douglas Federhart. Topics are designed to invite people into deeper engagement with their spirituality and to bring a contemplative approach to the world around them. Some 2025 Groundings topics have included a somatic experience of the Enneagram, befriending our belovedness, and listening deeper than differences.
Groundings events take place on the third Tuesday of the month at Saint Thomas More. Our next Groundings lecture features Rev. Cathy M. Kolwey speaking on how art can help in processing the complex stages of grief. Learn more and register here.
Enrichment Programs and Spiritual Director Development
The team at Sacred Ground has worked hard to create additional programming to meet the spiritual needs of our community. In 2025, this included enrichment events to deepen attendees’ prayer practices, such as a contemplative art retreat an event dedicated to fresh spiritual practices.
Sacred Ground also offered a Spiritual Director Development Series, in collaboration with the Loyola Spirituality Center. Nearly 40 participants joined sessions on topics such as deconstructing faith with a directee, using the Enneagram in spiritual direction, and spiritual companionship. Sacred Ground is proud to offer these development opportunities as part of our ongoing mission to provide support and fellowship for spiritual directors. Join us for our upcoming January event in this series, The Power of Creativity in Spiritual Direction.
Community
Sacred Ground continued to foster community for spiritual directors through our membership, as well as opportunities such as peer supervision groups and retreats. We’re happy to share that we had seven peer supervision groups meeting regularly in 2025! If you’re a spiritual director looking for support and community, we’d love to connect you with opportunities in the new year.
Formation
Our Spiritual Direction Formation and Training Program continues to be the foundation of our mission at Sacred Ground. After relaunching our formation program in 2024, we are pleased to continue seeing the transformation and growth in our current cohort as we pursue our mission of bringing spiritual direction to the community around us.
For those who are curious about spiritual direction training or are discerning a call to the ministry of spiritual direction, you’re welcome to join us for an online open house on February 19. You’ll hear from Sacred Ground’s faculty and recent alumni and will have opportunities to ask questions. We would love to see you there!
Looking Ahead to 2026
